Woo Hoo! I am excited! And I just want to say, I love Vermeer's choice of point of view in his paintings. I think that makes a signature. Did you notice in the Astronomer, Milkmaid and Woman Holding a Balance there is the same window on the left? And all the paintings have the light coming in from the left (except Pearl Earring Girl). OMG! They are staged scenes! -Nat
That's so cool. Like little glimpses of his studio. I really like Woman Holding a Balance. The detail is incredible. I thought it was neat how in the book it mentioned how in View of Delft, there was sand mixed with the paint to make the roofs(?) look textured.
Great idea to have a blog, and I love the paintings posted! Vermeer used colors so beautifully.
ReplyDelete(I just got my copy today. Yay! :) )

I got my copy yesterday too! I wish it had the real painting on the cover instead of this collagen-lipped model.
ReplyDeleteLOL. My library had two copies with different covers. I took both, since my mom wants to read it, too. :-)
ReplyDeleteNatalia invited me to the book club too- yay! It works out perfect because i have already read girl with a pearl earring. Easy:-)
